Step 2 of 3 ✨ Magic Wand Polish is tapped — the AI expands three words into natural, fluent language.
Step 3 of 3 Three words become "I want a toy, please help me, thank you." — complete, natural, ready to speak.

Built at a
kitchen table

jVox didn't start in a tech lab. It started with a father watching his son — a non-verbal child with disabilities — struggle to express the full complexity of his thoughts using rigid, static communication boards.

The world moves too fast for 20 static buttons. True expression requires nuance, context, and adaptability. So he built something better.

jVox bridges the gap between simple requests and genuine human expression — using AI to provide an adaptive, intelligent voice that grows alongside the person using it.

This is a legacy project. Built for my son, but shared with the world — because every person deserves to be heard.

— The Builder of jVox

The comfort you need,
The edge you deserve

Traditional AAC shouldn't cost a premium. We built a rock-solid, familiar grid for the essentials — fast, intuitive, and just the baseline.

"Our priority is to give you a familiar space, then show you what you are truly capable of. We built a system that grows with your thoughts, instead of limiting your voice."

Always at its core.

Communication is not
a luxury.

Traditional AAC systems are locked behind immense financial barriers. Dedicated speech hardware often costs thousands of dollars in medical insurance bureaucracy, while standalone apps routinely charge $250 upfront or tie families into expensive recurring subscriptions.

For families already navigating the daily challenges of a disability, these barriers are unacceptable. jVox is built to run on any device you already own. The core service is free, offline-first, and will stay that way.

Radically Accessible
No paywalls on core communication. Every family gets a full, capable app regardless of budget.
Privacy First
All data stays on-device. No cloud sync, no servers, no analytics. Your child's words belong to your family.
Built with Love
Not a startup product. Not investor-driven. A father's labor of love — shared because it was the right thing to do.
AI with Integrity
AI features are powerful and come with real infrastructure costs. We're honest about that, and working to eliminate the burden for families.

A familiar space.
A limitless voice.

Our priority is to give you a familiar space, then show you what you are truly capable of. Traditional communication boards often limit expression to one word at a time, trapping vibrant minds inside rigid boxes. We believe a tool should grow with your thoughts, not restrict your voice. jVox includes this rock-solid, familiar grid for foundational comfort — but it is built to be a launchpad, not a ceiling.

The Scale of
the Problem

Behind jVox is a measurable, global humanitarian crisis. These are not estimated projections — they are documented figures from the World Health Organization, the Global Stroke Council, and international epidemiological research.

Global Distribution
The Global Bridge
World map showing global distribution of people who need AAC

Communication disability does not respect geography — it is documented across every region, culture, and income level. Low- and middle-income countries carry a disproportionate share of unmet need, with the fewest resources to respond.

Of everyone who needs communication assistance, only 1 in 10 receives it. The 90% access gap is not a projection — it is the WHO's own documented finding.

Circle of Care
One App. Every Caregiver.

Every person in a user's life already carries the world's most advanced hardware in their pocket. jVox turns it into a universal communication bridge — for family, medicine, education, law enforcement, military, and emergency response.

Grant & Funding Relevance
Built for Impact, Not Profit

These numbers represent a documented, measurable public health crisis. jVox directly addresses the 90% access gap identified by the WHO — making it a strong candidate for military, government, and humanitarian grant programs.

By serving first responders, military families, and civilian caregivers equally, jVox positions itself as infrastructure — not just an app. JVox.org is in pre-filing preparation for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.

Competitive Differentiation
Why jVox Wins

Commercial AAC apps cost $200–$300 upfront, run on closed ecosystems, and treat communication as a product. jVox treats it as a human right.

No app store gatekeeping. No subscriptions. Installs offline on any device. Works for a stroke survivor in a hospital, a child in a classroom, and a soldier in the field — equally.

For families, parents, and daily caregivers
jVox started as a father's tool for his own son. Everything here is designed around real daily life — at home, in the car, at the dinner table. No tech background required.

Any modern browser — iPhone, iPad, Android, Chromebook, Mac, or Windows PC. jVox installs to your home screen and works offline. No app store required.

Privacy

Completely. All phrases, profiles, and settings live only on your device. No accounts, no cloud sync, no analytics tied to your family. Your child's words belong to your family.

✦ Core

Yes — add, rename, or remove any phrase or category. Changes save instantly to your device. jVox includes 150+ phrases across 12 categories as a starting point, but every family's setup will look different.

General

Non-verbal and minimally verbal individuals of all ages — children with autism or developmental delays, adults with stroke-related aphasia or ALS, and anyone in a situation where speech is temporarily difficult.

✨ Aura

jVox Aura unlocks AI features: the Magic Wand sentence builder, Situation Cards, camera-based phrase scanning, ambient listening, Geo-Sense boards, and Zen Mode. Requires a free Groq API key — fully open during Early Access.

✨ Aura

Visit console.groq.com, create a free account, and generate a key — no payment info required. Takes under 2 minutes. Paste it into jVox settings and all AI features activate immediately.

✦ Core

Core jVox features work fully offline once installed to your device. AI-powered Aura features require a brief connection, but all communication boards, word builder, and text-to-speech remain available without signal.

🏫
For SLPs, special ed teachers, OTs, and school administrators
jVox is designed to complement your work — not replace it. It runs on devices your students already have, requires no procurement, and can be customized per student in minutes.
✦ Core

Yes. jVox runs on any school-issued or personal device — iPad, Android tablet, Chromebook, or laptop — with no app store installation. It works offline and requires no IT involvement for the Core tier.

✦ Core

The jVox Core tier is free for every user — students, therapists, and schools. No per-seat licenses, no district contracts, no procurement process. We're actively working with organizations to make AI features sustainable at no cost to schools.

✦ Core

Yes — each device has its own independent jVox configuration. An SLP can set up a student's specific phrases, categories, and About Me profile in minutes. Data never leaves the device, so each student's setup is fully isolated.

Clinical

jVox is built around core vocabulary principles and category-based communication boards — consistent with established AAC methodology. We actively welcome input from SLPs and researchers to strengthen alignment with clinical best practices.

Privacy

jVox collects no student data — no accounts, no cloud storage, nothing transmitted off the device. Because nothing leaves the device, there is nothing to govern. We recommend confirming with your district's privacy officer for documentation purposes.

Clinical

Absolutely. Many families use jVox as a portable backup to a dedicated SGD, or as a trial tool before committing to costly hardware. It's also commonly used by caregivers and teachers who don't have access to a student's primary device.

🤝
For grant makers, nonprofits, researchers, first responders, and media
jVox is infrastructure, not a product. We're building toward a world where communication technology is as universal as emergency services — and we're looking for mission-aligned partners to get there.
Foundation

JVox.org is in pre-filing preparation for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. The mission is to permanently remove cost as a barrier to communication technology. jVox will always have a free core — regardless of organizational structure.

Funding

jVox is actively researching federal disability tech grants (NIDILRR, HRSA), military and VA communication programs, and private foundation funding. jVox's documented alignment with the WHO's 90% access gap makes it a strong candidate. If you fund in this space, we'd like to talk.

Use Cases

Yes. jVox is designed for the full Circle of Care — family, medicine, law enforcement, military, and emergency response. Any first responder encountering a non-verbal individual can pull up jVox instantly on their own device, without accounts or setup.

Research

Actively yes. jVox welcomes collaboration with university researchers, SLP programs, and disability studies departments. Outcomes data, usability studies, and clinical validation all strengthen jVox's mission. Contact us to explore what's possible.

Differentiation

Commercial AAC apps typically cost $200–$300 upfront, run on closed ecosystems, and treat communication as a product. jVox treats it as a human right. No app store gatekeeping. No subscriptions. Works offline on any device the user already owns.

Partnership

jVox is open to conversations about licensing, embedding, or co-development for mission-aligned organizations — hospitals, school networks, VA facilities, and similar. Contact us at hello@jvox.org to discuss scope and terms.

Media

Email hello@jvox.org with Press or Research in the subject line. We're happy to provide demos, data, interviews, or background on jVox's origin and mission.

Partnership

There are several ways — financial sponsorship, in-kind technical support, structured pilots, or simply spreading the word. We're building a network of mission-aligned partners. Reach out at hello@jvox.org.
